1 Peter 2:6 states that Jesus is the chosen, precious cornerstone laid in Zion, and those who trust in him will never be put to shame. This verse emphasizes that building one’s life on Christ (the “living stone”) provides security and prevents spiritual disappointment

Continuing on, we see the importance of the cornerstone, and how in construction it is the heaviest, most carefully positioned stone as it established the foundation and design of the whole building. This illustrates how spiritually, Christ is the foundation to the Indwelling temple, and how he lays out the design for our faith.

Some of the main lessons from this passage is that Christ is the foundation and rock of our faith:

- Through this Cornerstone, God established his Church and built the spiritual identity of his people

- Those who believe Christ is the cornerstone are promised they will never be ashamed and they will be honored

- To reject Jesus as the cornerstone is to build our house (lives) on Sand when the inevitable storm is coming.
