Living Stones

This message explores what it means to come to Christ as the “Living Stone” and to be built into a spiritual house. It challenges believers to see their identity not as isolated individuals, but as part of God’s greater purpose - rooted, chosen, and secure in Him.
In 1 Peter 2:3–6, we are invited into a powerful image: Christ as the living Stone, rejected by people but chosen and precious to God. This passage reminds us that faith is not just about belief - it’s about coming to Him, continually drawing near, and allowing our lives to be shaped by His presence.
Peter describes believers as “living stones” being built into a spiritual house. This means we are not meant to stand alone. Each life, surrendered to God, becomes part of something larger - a dwelling place where God’s presence resides. Our purpose is both personal and communal: to grow in Him and to contribute to His work in the world.
The foundation of this house is unshakable. Christ is the cornerstone, carefully chosen and firmly set. In ancient construction, the cornerstone determined the alignment and stability of the entire structure. In the same way, when our lives are aligned with Christ, we find direction, strength, and security.
This passage also acknowledges a tension: the same Stone that is precious to believers is rejected by others. Following Christ may not always be understood or accepted, but our confidence does not come from human approval - it comes from being chosen by God.
So the call is clear: come to Him. Build your life on Him. And recognize that you are part of something eternal. In Christ, you are not just surviving - you are being built into a living, holy purpose that will stand forever.
